The Xioami 70mai is actually designed by the company known as 70 mai but distributed by Xiaomi. The camera is accompanied by a power adapter, an electrostatic sticker and a 3.5 m micro USB cable. Only the microSD card is not offered and is good value for money. Installing the camera is not that difficult. This portion is quite easy and can be done without any supervision. There is a ring that displays different coloured lights to denote whether or not the device is recording video. The green colour denotes a recording state, red defines error while the blue colour means that the camera is not recording anything at all. If the colour is in a breathing state, it would mean the Wi-Fi hotspot is on, otherwise off.
The G-sensor in the device can detect sudden changes of motion and would trigger emergency recording. If triggered, the video would be stored in another location. The sensitivity must be set to low. The normal braking of the car would activate emergency recording otherwise. One of the coolest features is that you can use voice commands. There are currently 4 voice commands that can be used – turning the audio recording on/off, recording emergency video, switching the Wi-Fi hotspot on/off and taking a photo.
The default videos would be loop recorded every minute. Thus the camera would delete the oldest video once the card becomes full. But the emergency video recording would be saved to a different location. This would not be deleted by the loop recording function and would keep the video safely.
The camera records the video in 1080p at a frame rate of 30 fps. The overall quality is quite decent. However, it does stand out in quality and sharpness. Also, you would get the option to connect the device to a smartphone app. The app is quite reliable and responsive. Downloading the videos would not be any trouble.
